Drove today to Mt. St. Helens. The pictures show a before shot ( thanks to the picture in the visitors center ) and the others show views of the devastation left by the eruption in 1980. The owner of the motel we stayed at last night lived there at the time and had stories to tell first hand. The magnitude of the episode is amazing and to see how it changed the land is something you have to see to grasp. From here we entered Oregon. Finally made it to the Pacific Ocean!!!!! Had to put our feet in even though the water temp was about 54 according to a surfer and the weather was very overcast and cool. Ate at" Mo's". Good food and great prices.! Staying in Cannon Beach, Oregon which was named for a cannon that was found floating in the water in 1846. We are taking Rt. 101 down the coast.
